In ix that will understeer until you are exiting corner under full throttle - car basicly becomes rwd, because all the front power will escape. Car will be rapidly switching from understeer to huge oversteer. The kind of behaviour that you really don't want to have.

That is not a problem unless you have enough power to spin the rear wheels. Stock ix might not encounter this problem at all.

Nando's new setup looks great in the pics !
I agree totally. That's exactly what happens. Combined with the semi-trailing arms, snap oversteer will bite you. I learned quite quickly you just need to keep your right foot planted. :p

it's been so long, but I actually felt that dialing all the understeer out would be a bad idea. I got it to be pretty neutral, but because the front wheels are driven there will always be some, it's just part of being AWD. Instead of focusing on making the car act like a RWD, I just drove it like it was an AWD.

I haven't been out much with the new suspension. actually, the current version I only drove for a few months before I parked the E30 for a while. Even my kids are asking me when we can drive the E30 again, lol. When they are 15 we'll do car control and autox in it. :D

The problem with rwd e30 is the rear trailing arms. There is no much traction compared to for example volvo ridig rear axle with 4-link system.

What camber are you running up front?

Naaa.. car is a street car driven on dragraces, not a drag car driven on street. :D I had softer suspension earlier and yes, there sure was weight transfer... It was pretty undriveable @ WOT. A lot easier to drive with stiff suspension.
Ok lookin forward to that! :)

I did have a couple oversteer incidents in that time, but mainly during transitions like slalom sections the car rolled so much it just wasn't as responsive.

here's a couple months later with much stiffer suspension. this was 2 or 3 suspension changes ago, but the main difference from what I have now is ride quality and suspension travel:

the car did get faster and I won my class that year. I added an accelerometer to my Megasquirt at some point and I can sustain 1g+ on R-DOTs no problem.

Man, I miss those 14" wheels. They were so frickn' light and the tires were like gumballs. I like the 15" I have now but I could pretty much one hand those things when switching tires. I pulled a stock 16" wheel off my wife's E91 the other day, good god that thing was heavy. the 14" wheels were only around 20lbs a corner including the tires!
    Lookin good!!

    How I'x should be cornering

Not 100% sure, but also it sound/looks like ix turn slower in this setup, if compare that stiffer suspension setup, in order to prevent those inner front tyres to rise up. So you can use ix potential, if want that front tyre rise, then should use 2wd, it is lighter.....This is in track use, why not in street use

You still can with more power. I prefer the snappyness of the handling, although to be honest i don't know that grip ultimately changed that much.

Just looking at these makes me want to work on my E30, lol
