    kick panel removal?

how involved is removing the kick panels in the footwells?

was working on the sunroof and snaking out the drain holes. we ran weedwhacker line but it fed in way too far before hitting a blockage and never exited out the front sill area. previous owner had an aftermarket sound system installed, and i'm guessing the genius who did it cut the drain hoses to fit speakers in the footwells.

    crap, double post

Maybe you just ran into the rocker at the end of the drain tubes. They don't exit the bottom of the car, they just dump into the rocker. It's a terrible design, I hate sunroofs. Removing the speaker panels is basically trivial. Driver side you have to remove the knee bolster, panel that covers the pedal box, hood release which is two bolts, then the screws for the speakers and the door seal, and it comes out. Passenger side I think you just pull the glove box door, undo the screws, and pull the door seal.

i was having a look at it and think i might pull the passenger kick panel to see if the drain tubes got cut. always thought they ended just a few ml above the rocker drain.

edit: i agree with the sunroof grief. i'd much more happily drive a slicktop than have to deal with it.

Super easy. There is a screw in the middle of the panel, iirc. I pulled mine to replace speakers.

I saw it once on a particularly rusty car, found a pic online:
