Yup, thats chris alright. I stopped in there on an overnight and ended up chatting with him for hours. I took a good look at that silver e30 m3 cabrio recreation in the web site pic. They were asking 15k for it. They didnt do the body work, but i would have bought it if the panels were installed better.http://www.autoevolution.com/news/bm...deo-95294.html
These guys? They mentioned $100k e30 restoration. Something tells me they're out of most of our price ranges.
I can tell you from experience that he is an awesome guy.
I havent seen any 100k e30s, but there were several 100k 2002's sitting in his shop.
Just from looking around, i can say they do first rate work. I dont know what he charges to wrap a dash, but i saw a few finished products and they looked amazing.sigpic

How much do you think it would cost someone to do this at a shop? Including making the wrap. The guy I bought my interior parts from in Germany is now selling completely wrapped dash's and shipping to the US. $1299 total including shipping. Its a bit much but I am wondering how that would compare to having someone wrap my dash since it has a crack in it.
His quality has been great on the other stuff he has sent me so far, door panels and center console. And he doesnt have that seam down the middle.

Yeah, the beauty of the wrap is that it doesn't much matter what the dash looks like underneath as the wrap is going to cover everything. At that price I'd rather save a few hundred and get an OE BMW new dash as well. If only Alex made the wrap available by itself... then we could buy it for say $500 shipped and install it ourselves or have a pro do it."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

I wouldnt mind a new dash, but I would love mine wrapped to match all the other leather I have done on the inside.
But I cant really justify it, I would love if he would just do the wrap and have someone here install it.
I may ask him since I have bought quite a bit from Alex.Comment

That's the dash wrap paradox.Yeah, the beauty of the wrap is that it doesn't much matter what the dash looks like underneath as the wrap is going to cover everything. I usually frown on fake CF stuff - but I'd dig something like this: 3M DiNoc Carbon Fiber Wrap

that looks good on a console, but I think it would be way too much on an entire dash.Comment

You might be right on that - you'd almost have to see it.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

Cracks would definitely show under a wrapped dash. You'd have to sand them smooth and fill them. So it does matter what's under the dash, but as you said, the looks don't matter. It could be multicolor bondo and black dash.
For the effort and the expense of a leather wrap, I think I would prefer just spending $300 on an uncracked dash and wrapping that. What if the bondo cracked down the line? Now you're fucked.AWD > RWDComment

I used that exact same stuff on my 740i, I really love it and in person it looks and feels really good. I ended up changing it to a Birch Anthracite individual trim because I felt the 7 probably should have wood trim vs carbon fiber, here is some pics of what it looked like though.

Bringing this thread back from the dead kind. Anyone actually know of and can recommend a shop that does wrap dashes in leather? Real Leather? Anywhere in the country. I want to get my E24 M6 dash recovered and a local quote was $5000.00. $8000.00 if they remove the dash, recover the dash and then reinstall the dash.
And I have seen those Euro dash covers and I too think they don't look well installed or well designed. I know that I wouldn't be happy with my dash if it turned out like the ones in their pictures.1986 E30 325E
