Can I use a coupe jack on my vert?

Whats up guys. Got a real anal question today.

My car is an early model convertible and didn't come with a factory jack when I bought it. I was at the parts yard today and picked up a jack from an early model coupe for like 7 dollars. I'm like cool, now I don't have to carry a 25 lb floor jack around. Fast forward to now when I learn there's actually different jacks for coupe vs convertible.

So my question to you, the all-knowing r3v community, is can I use the jack I bought, which works smooth and is not rusted (!) on my convertible?

I went outside and tried jacking it up and it seems to be okay (aside from being slow af), though I would carry a jack stand in the trunk in a real-world application.

Again, super anal, but if you like anal, you'll probably know the answer to this question. Buttsechs

You'll be as fine as using the widowmaker on any e30. Never go under a car without jackstands and still be super leery of where your feet are.

I don't have any personal experience, but judging from the picture in the thread you posted, it isn't going to reach far enough to sit on the pinch weld properly.

P.S. - Stock jacks work fine. Just don't use them on soft ground or an incline, both of which it was never intended for.

I think we can agree they're good for emergencies, but super spooky no matter what.

Next question is can I use acorn nuts on my valve cover or should I stick with the standard whiz nuts?? This is important stuff people.

Is there a difference between the standard valve stem caps and the ones that say BMW on them with a little roundel? I saw some on eBay and I really want to put them on my car.

You gotta get the stem caps that light up so it looks like your car is from the future when you're driving at night

I got some SS acorns at HD and they weren't quite deep enough so I put a couple of copper washers under each. They were a fraction of the cost of replacement nuts and give it that old time nautical look that I'm so fond of :)

I bought SS acorn nuts at HD as well. They fit fine for me. Looks good against the red valve cover.
