I did the swap and it completely changed the geometry of how the tie rod sit on the steering knuckle, not a whole lot but, enough that it continously scrapes against my stock 14" bottle caps. Has anyone else had this issue or is it safe to assume by the time everyone does this swap they have bigger wheels already?

Also e30tech.com has a kit available that is basically the same as the AKG one.

The ORIGINAL e30 M5x/S5x 24V swap motor mounts! Our mounts incorporate the correct angle and stud location for proper engine seating. Made in USA.

    Info for all:

Don't want to be a smartass but to get the same alignment as the OEM E30 Rack, the correct spacer heights are 6,4mm at the top and 7,4mm at the bottom.

Ah, okay, thanks. I've got awhile to figure it out before the new rack gets here, I'll probably finish reading the thread before I begin. Just this little detail had me confused.

I've got a question about spacers before I get myself into trouble. The E30tech kit for a non-airbag car comes with spacers for the "top of the rack" and spacers for the knuckle. Can someone explain what these spacers for the top of the rack are for, where they go?

What spacer dimensions for the rack do you use now?

Completed this swap today...I would say the most difficult part was rerouting the the hose's from the pump to rack, everything else went pretty smooth. I also deleted the guibo and just used bolts and spacers to separate the knuckle halves.

Steering feels great, super crisp, a little heavier (good thing), tight with good feedback.

    Awesome mod!
