Seats polished up nice when I lapped in the new (used but clean) valves.

        Interesting... Higher res version?

Not sure if it's a trick of the photograph or not, but what's the polished little stripe on the lower right?

That's the edge of the valve that appears shiny. It's not actually shiny, it's the correct shade of light brown. A bit of an illusion.

            Sub'd! I like this a LOT!

Wonder how an M42 would do with a charger...

It does well, Downing Atlanta used to make one for the m42. They are hard to find now I've heard.

Just looking for a way to tell if the seat was unevenly worn, pitted or eroded.

If everything cleaned up from lapping it, you should be good WRT exhaust valves.

Did you do the intakes as well?

I checked the intakes and it looks like two are slightly leaky so I'm gonna do the lot of them as well while it's out and torn down. What does WRT mean?

edit: "with respect to", I looked it up on the internets...

The intake valves are lovely. No leaks on the water test after lapping. The exhaust valves on the other hand, are a different story. After not passing the water test, I started to re-lap the exhaust side. On number 2, I noticed that the seat on the head was lapping un evenly. It had a nice thick mating surface on about 7/8 of the seat and did not on the last 1/8.

Warped valve seat? I didn't know that was a thing. Is it?

It is a thing, and I've found that if you cut off your valve lapping handle and chuck it up in a drill and then just fuckin go to town on that goddamn warped seat, it'll eventually succumb to your wishes. So that's not leaking anymore. Thankyouverymuch.

Thanks man. It has been a fricking blast.

I should be getting my parts today so I can put this muther-fletcher back together in time to maybe drive it to the Brodeo on thursday.
I also think I should go ahead and put the small pulley on the supercharger for to add a few extra boost lbs.

Im assuming you have head studs already? A cam would really wake the engine up too.

I don't have studs. I was under the impression I wouldn't need then if I stay under 10lbs boost.
