A/W Intercooler using a radiator from an auto

    Just had a weird idea...

If you were to use an air-water intercooler on a turbocharged car, is it possible to use the automatic transmission cooler?

    I hope that makes sense

I think it should work, they should both be the same design wise. Attach a fan to it to.

The automatic transmission cooler, as in the little loop in the radiator of an auto car? That's the only transmission cooler I'm aware of in E30s. It would be pretty terrible, the engine coolant is about 100 degrees hotter than you would want your intercooler coolant to be and even if the engine coolant was 80 degrees or so you wouldn't be able to dissipate much heat from the intercooler's water circuit with such a small heat exchanger, so the system would heat soak quickly.

Sure you can use it, but it would be called an "interheater" when its done.

(Assume you are talking about the auto cooler that is integrated into the coolant radiator)
