    m20 2.8L “Stroker” build assistance.

    Good afternoon, first time using the forums here.

    I’m hoping to get some assistance or pointed into the right direction on completing a 2.8L “stroker” build utilizing an m50/m52 crankshaft and some assistance from this write up here; https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/inde...Building_a_2.8

    Have never pulled a motor out, have never done anything with an engine apart from removing the head once.

    goal of the project is to have a nice daily driver with a little bit more power.

    looking for general tips or advice on what to look out for when rebuilding a motor like this as well as what parts will be needing replacing.

    you need to be more specific.

    first thing you need the parts
    • M52b28 crankshaft ideally the small counterweight version,
    • eta 130mm rods
    • M20b25 pistons (short skirt version ideally)
    • oil seal sleeve
    • M5x 18mm crank bolt and modified washer
    89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

      You never pulled the engine in your life and you talking all of that engine building? Fix it all stock, problem solved.

        sometimes we have to dive head first to learn anything. I say do it. Especially if he is willing to get in there and get dirty. Hell I've learned by diving in when I was new to cars.

          My advice is to find a cheap engine to machine and build while you keep your car running, then swap it over.

          It keeps your car on the road and usable, it eliminates the potential stress of needing to move a dead car, gives you time to go at your pace instead of having a tight timeline, and the swap happens at once so you remember how it goes back together.
