    Cheap Schrick Cams

I've been doing research on cams as of late and came across this. It looks like Turner and ECS (both run by ECS) have a discounted line of Schrick cams for the M20 currently. They look expensive, but when you go to add it to your cart you can choose to remove the valve springs and viola, you have an affordable 284/272 or 288 Schrick cam of your choosing. Everywhere else online sells them for $479+.

Also, turner doesn't specify that the cam is 284/272 (states it's simply a 284), but when you run the part number in the Schrick catalog, it shows 284 int and 272 exh duration (11.4mm and 11mm lift respectively).

    https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...egree/?pdk=AgE

    Schrick catalog: https://1c2a8a2161d644d95009-22d26b3...9_BMW_only.pdf

I just bought a 284/272, hope this helps someone else save money!

Saw that was toying with 284/276 for S14 these go on sale annually at this time of the year. Supersprint are 50% of on Black Friday and in May I believe.

This must have been a mistake on their part, I can't remove the springs.

ECS has a sale on the 288 cam though, too bad they don't have a sale on the 272. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schrick-...e/05601880-00/

I tried to snag those for the M3 but it didn't apply the discount. Good to know for supersprint deals!

Oh wow! I think you're right. I just went back in and the 284 is full price again. I'm thinking I got really lucky- I'm glad I placed my order last night! Looks like the 288 is still discounted, though, for those who need that.

The 284 is probably too much for my setup, but I'm going to roll with it.

AWDBOB You got lucky, Price is corrected. Hopefully this goes toward your m20 build. By the way, The m20 stuff you sold me works great with my bimmerheads sports head build with ssq chip and 19lb injectors. Thanks a bunch.

hmmmmmm my head just ate itself so might have to order one of these. Looking at the clearances they are all .25mm, so the 284 shouldn't have a problem with valve clearance, correct?

if you mean the clearance to the pistons that isnt how it works. usually the 284 is just ok on stock but sometimes not. one of things you must check

Both me and James C. had contact issues with stock pistons and the 284/272. I ran a bigger eccentric clearance until I finished a new bottom end, in Jame's case I think he ended up throwing a rod, lol.

I got 284 cam in the mail last night (couldn't pass up the deal). For my 2.9 stroker...debating if I should install it instead of my Dbilas 276 (remember that plot?) or should I try running Dbilas first, dyno that setup and swap to 284 later.

option 1: change it now (another $120 waisted for new HG.)
option 2: run 276 and try 284 later (unavoidable $120 for HG plus new rockers $$ for my new cam).

what do you think? Remember that Dbilas 276? Should I fit this 284 of the get go?

Plot both cams out and overlay them.
