Folks, I have managed to run into a road block of sorts and I'm wondering how you can remove the dowel pin from the selector rod? Mines seems to be sideways from looking at the bottom of the selector joint. 
Any help would be appreciated! Cheers. (Your response will also help influence my Early Model Shifter Rebuild Guide)

The dowel pin is under the split sleeve. Rotate it with an angled pick and then pry it open a bit and slide it toward the shifter lug. -

Give it a good cleaning and you'll see that there's a sleeve around where the dowel pin is.
