1991 318is Differential complete rebuild kit?

Please help with links to a complete rebuild kit for a stock 1991 318is differential? I am needing all supporting characters including bearings too as well as the correct type of diff fluid? I am guessing I have a small case 4.10 but I don't know if it's LSD option or open.
    Thank you guys!

Far as I know, you'll need to buy the parts separately. No- one packages kits for
BMW like they do for the domestic solid axle stuff.

And brace yourself- the parts add up fast.

No linky here. But if you get the part numbers off realoem.com, and then search yourself,
    you'll see what I mean...

Strangely, Rockauto.com and other 'domestic' suppliers will have some of the bearings-
    they are standard parts.

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

      $$$

It's probably an open diff, LSD was an option on the 318is. Probably not worth it to spend the money rebuilding an open diff, and it's not exactly a DIY job unless you have the tools and are familiar with rebuilding diffs. Better to find a good used 4.10LSD.

I think It's likely an lsd. Most but perhaps not all 318is's will have the "s" on the tag.

Personally, I have never seen one without this feature

I used to see plenty at yards here in the Bay Area. I was very surprised when I found an LSD actually.

wow! so bimmer diffs charges between 215 and 315 for a clutch rebuild kit but only 200 for a ring and pinion? damn.

It's not too hard or expensive to do yourself, as long as you're good at being organized and can follow step by step instructions. I believe I spent less than $500 doing a 4 clutch upgrade to my 4.10 with all new clutches, dog ears, bearings, seals, and machining. There is a good writeup online somewhere, just google BMW 188mm diff 4 clutch for instructions.

Neither of mine came with lsd. Really how much could that have cost to add as an option new?:(
