If it were me that 4.4 wouldn't be there and I'd have a nice freshly painted block.

Yeah, it's below the exhaust manifold on the side of the block.

He's suggesting grinding off the numbers on the block, I believe. Not sure how well that would go over if the tech actually would go looking for them...

I doubt they'll look Jean. You're being paranoid.

My way of thinking is they may not go looking, but if they happen to see, they see, and that cannot be unseen.

I doubt they'll look, but then can still find the 4.4 if they happen upon it. Do a nice, clean grind and block paint and you're covered. No happening upon this dirty little secret.

My spare m60b40 heads arrived. Found a 5 speed today, should be picking it up this friday! :)

May also pick up another m62b44 for a spare block/bottom end parts this saturday if it's as described for $100.

I haven't seen it yet, after talking to the seller I am thinking it probably had ruined heads so I'll have to see it first.

There's a bunch on car-part.com... A lot of those places are willing to ship too. There's a few on there right now for under $300.

Last time I was at the local junkyard there was 4 m62's and 1 m60. Their price for a complete engine is $125. There's nothing like that near you?

yeah, the best we have for junkyards is www.upullandpay.com, complete engine prices are $200, which is fair. I was just griping about the $100 engine. It seems on CL here in CO, people are always asking crack-smoking prices for their stuff.

                            Example:

Bought a supposedly 62k mile 5speed trans from a local recycler for $250. The "shop" changed owners, so the new owner I guess is trying to make space maybe I am not sure.

My e34 is full of fricking parts right now....ugh.
