Yes I have seen that thread. looks to be nice work and well though out.
I'm currently in the process of building my 3rd. SC manifold. Hopefully I'll have my next one done within the month...

Ok in search off some cheap but usable o2 sensors that fit a 93-94 Bmw...

(forgive me) RockAuto has some on closeout for a 540i for around $20. Don't expect Bosch quality at that price.

I need to find a remote expansion tank solution for my e39 540, do you happen to know if yours has the correct pressure cap, and the necessary nipples to function properly on an early M62, looks to me like it would work? I like the looks of its shape and size (small and shallow).

Small update. Upstream 4 pin o2 sensors for early obd1 harness are on there way!

Alright looking for sum info on the limp mode for the 404 dme.
I have finally installed my o2 sensors and with in minuets threw a CEL.
in fear of falling into limp mode while away from my house.
Looking to start driving it to work to put some miles on it. I work 8 miles away.

Will the lack of o2 throw me into "limp mode" or if they are hooked up but still throwing a CEL

I disconnected the 404 after I shut the car down and walked away...
I didn't even do the stomp test. I was a tad bit peeved and not really wanting to fuck with it or let it ruin my day. lol

I'll plug it in tonight and run it to see if it comes back, then I'll do a stomp test...

I really need to ditch this dme shit and go to the MS3 but I wanted to wait till I had my SC setup... ugh

The 404 DME doesn't have a 'limp mode'. It won't go into closed loop unless it gets a valid/within spec signal from a few major sensors (coolant temp, O2's, etc...) but that won't hurt anything short term. Half of r3v probably has their 02 sensors disconnected haha.

Without codes, can't really help, but first thing I'd verify is that you have the o2's hooked up correctly. IIRC, the longer harness goes to the drivers side.

This particular "dme shit" is light years more advanced then MS, at least for N/A use. And it's nice that it's throwing a code, now you know that something is wrong...

Too bad your far away I would invite you in for a ride in my car and show you how I can control damn everything in this car... then you tell me if MS is light years behind...(yeah it was a pain to setup not much info out there but I got it running!! and documented I could replicate my setup so easy now) In the REAL world nobody needs ALL the shit that BMW has in there to control this engine including B.S EWS... and now you can actually tuned it properly (N/A or boosted) and get rid of 25 pound of wiring too.. loll...

Well, I was referring to the processing power. But now I see he was referring to MS3 anyway, so I retract my statement in that aspect.

Still, the DME/software is not to blame here. Obviously there is a sensor/input problem. Which can easily be isolated by simply pulling the codes.

I could believe that even an old Bosch OBD1 DME has more processing power/is more advanced than MS3. Just looking at the tables in the MS41 DME makes me realize the crazy amount of tables and corrections go into making an engine run "properly" vs what I can do in TS with MS2

Well, it's not what you can actually do with MS3. The problem is, do you know how to do it??
