Well props for trying, whatever it is you're trying.
I really want to take your side, but I just cant. If you'd brought your car up to snuff before you dyno'd it, then dyno'd every mod after that, i'd be right there with you.
But you didnt, so I'm going to stand back and wait for the end result before I pick sides.
Hey guys, here is the new steering wheel hub I installed. it is a very high quality ball bearing unit and It came free with my steering wheel hub (two in one deal off ebay). I also added a BMW emblem on the steering wheel and the horn surround for a better look. The steering wheel hub also put the steering wheel in a much more desireable position, plus its a good security deterant if you want to take it out when u leave the car u can do that as well (not much of a deterant but then again most aren't, if somebody wants your car bad enough they can have it). Anyways here are the pics.
Hey guys, Finally got the exhaust system done. The y-pipe fit perfectly right after the headers and the O2 sensor was relocated to a new bung in the y-pipe. The mandrel 45 degree bend was then used and a 180 mandrel bend was cut in half to make a S-bend. After the S-bend the cat was put in place followed by the two ebay resonators. After that the exhaust shop was SUPPOSED to use the 2nd mandrel bend but instead the slightly slanted the straight pipe sections. I dunno what happened, i gues they dropped the ball, oh well. anyways the exay exhaust was then put in place.
Sound: The exhaust is LOUD, i won't lie... however, the actual quality of the sound is awesome. it does not sound like a ricer at all, it sounds like a lemans racecar or something. The resonance is high above 2500rpm but below that its not that bad. If one were to chose to do something like this I would recommend putting 14" magnaflow 5x8 can in place of the two ebay resonators, aftermarket resonators don't really do much, even the $80 aero turbine resonators don't do THAT much. The magnaflow plus the ebay muffler would sound great and be streetable on a daily basis. Since i don't drive this car on a daily basis its fine with me.
Performance: the engine definitely loves to rev up much quicker than normal. The throttle responce is better (though still piss poor, after all it is a E30). First gear with teh 4.10 goes by in a blink, literally. 2nd-4th though are fantastic, sounds fantastic on the top end.
Overall i'm very happy. I won't give any speculative gains until i see dyno sheets but It definitely feels like there is a substantial difference. I will be painting then entire system with high heat ceramic based paint for both protection and heat reduction soon, i just didn't have time yet. I will be posting results of the APexi and MAF conversion soon (assuming i'm not irrationally banned for no reason at all by then).
