Poly bushings seem to eventually squeak, especially if you have eccentrics.

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

if the correct (petroleum free) grease is installed, they should almost never squeak. my AKG bushings started about to make noises a year or so into the install, but the car is such a pile of shit, i don't even care anymore. if it was something i cared about, i'd be pissed.

m3 has had Powerflex installed for almost 4 years now - no noises of any kind. YMMV

I’ve also seen the PTFE tape trick, has anybody had any experience with that?

has anyone used aluminum subframe bushings on their E30?

I am curious because I'm using aluminum subframe bushings on my E46 M3. It's known that as long as the diff mounts are kept stock, the NVH is minimal.

This might be a dumb question but when you use poly trailing arm bushes there isn't anything to stop them moving axially ?

I guess the bushing hats between the subframe tabs and TAs?

                Subframe bushings I've used:
"Lencas" bushings from a r3v vendor back in like 2010. They worked, but the height was kind of arbitrary, kind of like halfway between normal and riser bushings.
Garagistic Solid/Riser - in my M52 car. Bushing hat sheared off on the left side. I machined it down/made a new hat out of steel to get the car on the road and never changed it.
Revshift 90A poly - on my old iX. It's the only set of bushings that went in without problems, was happy with it.
Revshift 90A poly - on the shelf for my e30 for next time it's convenient.

i am specifically referring to the TA bushes only.

My understanding is that with poly bushes the metal sleeve is sandwich between the lugs on the TA (like the OE bushes)and does not move as friction from the bolt clamp stops this.
The bush is pressed into the TA housings without any intended relative movement in service expected and the bush ID rotates on the sleeve OD.

i have a set of poly TA bushings from Superpro and they are one (1) piece design. The bushing is several mm shorter shorter than the metal sleeve. So the TA will be able to have some end float a few mm (3-4mm iirc)

With other brands (they all seem to appear to be two (2) piece designs) when you push the two bushes into the TA and then push the metal sleeve afterwards does the sleeve stick out further than the end of the poly the bush? I am wondering if the end face of the bush is supposed to bear against the TA lugs internal face with these designs? or do they all have some end float?

only the IE seem to be flush

Misunderstood slightly, I get you now. I didn't think to look at that before I installed, so I can't give a definitive answer.
I don't remember the sleeve protruding on the revshift sets, but it's been probably 5 years since I last installed a set.
The poly "hat" also could compress, but I don't see that being any greater than the OE rubber deflecting.

i found this photo which appears to be how i would expect the bush to interface
