You can pry the bottom of the strut open between the bottom plate and the yellow sleeve, and cut out a "step" of the bump stop. I did this before I installed them initially, but I don't know if I'd do it again.
Cutting it will increase the travel before you hit the bump stop, but I found I'd hit the bump stop anyway and it just made less of the bump get absorbed by the stop before it actually bottoms out.
I'm now on GE coils/Koni SA/GC Race plates and I'm much happier than I was. Still planning to shorten my front housings though.
