I've been looking for steelies for my 1991 325iX, and came across Bassett wheels. They look great, and I've seen people use them on their E30s, but I'm not sure how. The ones I'm looking at would equate to a +0 offset, which would obviously poke the wheels out another 41mm from my current stock basketweaves. I like a little width in my stance, and some deep dish action, but how much can I get away with? I'm still pretty new to wheel metrics, and while I have a handle on the math, I'm lacking in the experience. I'm not sure if these would work without needing something else like rolling fenders, etc. Anyone have experience with this/these?
These specifically.

I have an 84 318i with rear drums. I am doing 5 lug swap using dropout from a 3.0 Z3 and front dropout from an e36 M3. What offset would keep the wheels in approximately the same plane as original? Bonus question: I would prefer 15" or 16" wheels so what width can I use with this set up? ThanksComment

Will a 17x8.5 et21 wheel fit the front with fender rolling and stretched tire? Car is a 1991 318i, 5lug e36 non M, GC coilovers.Comment

So a lot of good tires are only available in 205/50/15 these days instead of 205/55/15 and I'd rather not run something undersized for the wheel well and with less sidewall given that I can encounter some kinda shitty asphalt. With 15x7 (e.g. euroweave-spec and many others) 4x100 wheels, is there a tire that's got good wet performance, is fairly temperature tolerant/suitable for dailying in the PNW (western WA state)? It's lower on my priority list than other stuff but I would like to relegate my 14"s to winter duty someday and get 15"s with good summers that are sensible but can stand up to cool nights in spring/early autumn and the occasional parking lot autocross or rare HPDE at a local track.
I plan to slap some koni yellows in there soon but will be remaining at my current mtech/is package height (15mm lower than a regular 325is). I don't mind meaty tires if they don't rub or need rolling and are safe to stretch or squash a bit. I just want something sensible, grippy, precipitation-friendly, generally fine above freezing that will be switched out for winters below that, is close to stock diameter and amount of sidewall and reasonably lasting. Any recommendations for a one-car situation with those provisos?i'm in love with german cars // gliding past me on the autobahn

Hey guys, wondering if I can run some 15x8 +28 RPF1s in an early model. Seen posts with spacers ranging from 12mm to 20mm. My guess is I'd need a minimum of a 8mm spacer to get to that magical 18mm +/- 5mm, but seeing larger spacers makes me wonder if the spoke design causes issues.
Tires will be 205/55 or 205/50 depending on availability. Car is on OE Sports so about an inch of drop. Thanks!

Hi all! New to the whole e30 thing and hoping I can get some help. I know this thread has been filled with questions regarding wheel setups, but hoping there are recent users with similar setups.
I have a 1992 318i. I am looking for some wheels and unfortunately my wheel options are extremely limited in South Africa.
I have come across a set of 15X8 25ET wheels. And wondering what the correct tire size would be and if spacers would be needed?
My suspension setup is stock right now, but will be upgrading to Bilstein B4 Shocks with H&R sport springs… any help regarding tire sizes and spacer input would be great.
thanks!Comment

I need something a little more all-season than the Falken Azenis tires I have currently, and considering Kansei Tandems from Tire Rack. They suggest a 15x7 et25. I don't see anything about spacers (or longer lugs, for that matter), and wondering if I'll need to do that.
Most recent pic of the car:
It's on a set of H&R coilovers if that makes a difference...1985 E30 S52 - Daily Driver

Looking for help on best to solve my first world problem.
I have a brand new set of Alpina staggered wheels, 4x100 16x7 & 16x8, ET 28 for both. I should have researched tires before buying the staggered setup but wanted since was how they sold it back in the day. I am now realizing that tires are an issue for this in the correct 205/50/16 & 225/45/16 sizes. All that are available are track tires which are not ideal for everyday use. Now I am faced with sizing up one or both wheel sizes. Anyone have experience with doing and happy with the look one way or another? If I go 205/55 front and 225/50 rear I have decent options. I made a “for sale” post of selling one half of this set to buy another staggered set and then one gets a square 16x7 and the other a 16x8 set but no takers. It’s a lot of $$, I get it and gonna be resigning myself to keeping these most likely.
just wondering about fitment with this larger upsized tires and how they look.
anywho, any and all input is appreciated.Comment

Nope, totally good with summer performance tires, just none that I know of. Any manufacturers that you know make tires in the spec sizes for staggered setup?Comment

Hey all -
I have a set of 4 SSR Formula Mesh 16 x 9 ET +26 with 225/45/16 Toyo R1R mounted on my 1987 325is with H&R Sport Springs (which I believe lowers around 1.25") and Bilstein B8 struts. I was hoping to go as wide as possible (she's M54 powered and needs bigger brakes and a bigger contact patch) without too much fender manipulation and avoid a staggered setup. After spending hours in this thread and PM'ing a few folks with similar setups to what I was going for, I thought I should be able to pull that off. However, now that I've got everything mounted up, the front wheels are poking out further than I had hoped (about 20mm past stock unmolested fenders). The pictures below are with a front 15mm wheel spacer (bringing me to ET + 11). I'm afraid going with any thinner wheel spacers is going to cause problems with the strut. Front wheels/tires turn lock to lock with sufficient clearance under body weight and rears look like they have plenty of room as well (and are perfectly flush with the fenders and no spacers). I haven't taken it for a drive yet as I'm currently chasing a fuel line leak.
Any advice on achieving a more flush stance? I'm not sure how much I could correct this with camber and I'm assuming I'd want to add wheel spacers in the rear to keep the stance flush with the top of the wheel. How much can I close the 20mm gap with a moderate fender pull?
