I really don't think Dinan is much of a proper tuner anymore, they're just owned by Driven Performance, who gobbled up various performance brands, who in turn is owned by Sentinel. So, I'd suspect that they have real restrictions on what they can do anymore.

Given how much counterfeiting that's going on, I can see a business throwing their hands up and establishing a
'if you didn't buy it from a reputable chain, we can't touch it' policy.
My E46 came with a bunch of Dinan parts on it, and I got a similar answer when I contacted them-
"if you don't have a receipt, we can't help you" which confirms what you're saying.
Given that a significant part of what's on the car is in the DME, I... was underimpressed. And then went rogue.

My initial ask was to send in to be repaired. No. They referred me to local resellers, all said there are no parts so they can't, I asked to send it & a good core, no. & worse, IMHO, no offer of any kind EXCEPT we'll sell you a new one. How nice, I can buy a new one without any conversation. FU.
Obviously, if they had taken it in & it was a knock off they would be well within reason to say so, seeing as all they did was take an OEM core, bore it a little & give it a new butterfly, not like theres alot to be knocked off.

My car has a newly rebuilt S52 with Active Autowerke Rotrex C38 SC with the tune it was supposed to be able to better use the extra air, no idea what the TB alone would have added.
I have had lots of drama with the build, it is running great now, I doubt I'll be messing with it any further.
