there is a fantastic local indie euro shop that works on porsche, vw, audi, bmw, fiat, alfa etc all day long. all the mechanics drive to work in tacomas, civics, camrys, and accords lol

Try a Mazda 2, seriously. They're way more playful than a Fit, cheaper, and you can run it at 10/10ths most of the time.

3 and 4 yr old mazdas have already rusted through the back 1\4 panels here. they have a zero resale value because of it. you won't find one without holes if it's 5+ yrs old.

my daily/winter beater is an old jetta. the mechanicals are great but you can't keep the rest from falling apart around you. it's getting impossible to find a decent used econo box that retains a stick and 3 pedals here.

At the end of the day you're either really about it and can make it work, or you just become a mechanic that drives basic, stock cars and only turn wrenches for money.
