To harken back to the classic r3v, gaaaaayyyyyyyy.

By that, of course, I mean I'm happy you're all still here.

100% agree with this. I'm literally only on Facebag for the e30 parts groups. Even when I need help or have to look something up, I trend towards the old forum posts instead of asking on Fb. I'd love to see a resurgence of automotive forums again in general though. How to entice The Youths is the challenge it seems.

A view point from someone who just found R3V last year, and also uses Facebook/Reddit.

I find myself on R3V way more than anything else. This is the only site where I can deep dive into long histories and stories of different cars. It makes it feel more personal. it also provides way more useful information while I'm troubleshooting issues. Only negative thing about R3V is the UI. I could see why someone new could stumble on this site, find it useful, but be so annoyed by the UI that they just stick to Facebook/Reddit.

Facebook is only good for buying/selling. Reddit is just karma farming to an extent. Not many good conversations there.

Just my two cents if anyone cares. I also just may be repeating/echoing what others have already said.

Yea if you're on FB (Im not), the person to reach out to is James Crivellone as he owns R3V and manages the site, but I dont know the extent to which he 'manages' it. I would hope he finds a way to improve the experience because it will help retain people who find their way back here.

                  the TLDR for newbies:

                  (1) Come back to R3V
                  (2) Facebook sucks
                  (3) So waffleswaffleswaffles Reddit
                  (4) Everyone agrees about (1), (2), (3)
                  (5) Nobody posts in their own threads
                  (6) I would post here but it its slow
                  (7) Everyone goes back to Facebook

And see? that's why there are all sorts of different cars for different people!

But of course, since it's R3V we call each other #waffles and vow to race if we ever meet.

BMW ever made, even though I would trade the E39 wagon for an E34 wagon in a heartbeat.

Sometimes there's an obscure facebook post/group for some things that I'd never find out otherwise. I used to care more about that, but can't be fucked now.

Reddit I comment on some stuff, usually recurring topics. I try not to be mean, but I try to be honest about how dumb some shit is.

E34's and E39's are great cars when they have been maintained their whole life, but when they haven't, they're just endless pits of despair. 95% of the ones still somehow on the roads are mechanically totaled by the amount of work they need
