You are truly a new breed of person, I don't think I've ever dealt with a rabid E31 fanatic before. Next thing you know some E65 lover will crawl out of his hidey hole.

I, too, would not mind an E34 wagon. I would swap out the M20/M50, whichever your particular E34 had, as soon as possible though. Being an already heavy car, 2.5L is too small, it would be a good recipient for a big V8. LS... or M60 if you're a bit puristy.

I’m with you on that. Don’t care which one but a V8... maybe even my fav V8 of all time, the 6.3 AMG motor.

I was looking it up the other day, seems a e34 touring is only around 350 pounds heavier then a e36 M3 (not bad if you ask me since it’s a 5 series, and a wagon). S50/ S52 swap is what it’s begging for :D. Nearly plug and play swap assuming you found a S50.

I looked it up when making my last post, it's like 3,600lbs. That's heavy enough that an S50/52's meager torque just will not do imo. "only 350lbs heavier" my friend that is more than 10%, you're going to notice it.

Definitely, I dont think they offered them together, but if there was a Touring with the M30, I would look into a turbo option on it... but still V8 would be better in so many ways

Of course you’d feel a difference but I just wanted to bring it up I guess. People always make them sound heavier then 3,600.

Ya I’m just going off what varg said above and a quick google search which lead me to a bimmerforums link, but I guess the door jam would be the best bet for a accurate number. Obviously lighter then most people assume it to be if that’s a true number you know.

I would've gone to look at that E34, but I'm holding out for an A/C equipped 518i, M40 of course, wouldn't want that M43 power.
