Well, you can buy another one today at twice the price! What's not to love?

Ugh... 3 years ago I sold my TURBO 318is for $5000... and it was in mint condition inside with cold AC. Sold mine a few years too early it seems. :(

Oh, I absolutely agree. Just caught my fancy as a "they did it because they could" kind of build. I would want to drive it a few times, but that's about it. I share your distaste for the swap here, though, for sure. Now swap in that 7 series' V12, and all of a sudden you have my attention.

The E30 M3 is largely seen through nostalgia/fanboy goggles, it's awkward looking imo. I've seen plenty of them in person, from every angle, in many colors, and I don't buy the otherworldly hype.
I'm with you on this one tbh. M3 is cool but its visually too loud imo. Only looks super great when its all race car'd out, and most cars look pretty good when theyre in race car spec

It's funny because quite a few non-BMW car guys at work feel the same way. They all love my iS but the M3 they feel is "like the iS if it were in a fast and furious movie". And they're pretty adamant about it. After staring at them side by side I can certainly see where folks are coming from in enjoying a traditional coupe a bit more.

Well there you go. I'm not a BMW guy, I'm a car guy, so I don't go gaga over the M3 because I'm just looking at it as another classic car, not a car made by a brand I'm biased towards. I appreciate it, but it's not even close to being the best looking BMW. Not even in the top 5. Part of what makes the E30 such a good looking car is that it has simple styling and clean lines with no extraneous lines or parts that look tacked on like the M3's trunk and C pillar.
