I could go look at it for you. I live in Phoenix and we're driving down to Tuscon to spend Thanksgiving with the family.

It's known that I'm not anti-V8 or even anti-302, but I'm anti that. I mean come on... cast iron heads, carburetor, chintzy chrome look distributor cap, god-awful cowl hood and what looks like a crappy repaint. That's just garbage. Not that an E36 328i is anything special at this point

Looking at it again it would look pretty bad even without the cowl hood on account of those wheels, and is it just me or do E36s look really bad in red or white? I've seen non-M E36 coupes that I found good looking but just looking at image search results for E36 coupe darker colors make it look like a completely different car.

              Hmm original Mini M3 anyone?

              1988 BMW 320is AKA Italian M3

BMW 320is was a tax-dodge model made for the Italian and Portuguese markets, and sports a 2.0L version of the E30 M3's high revving S14 four cylinder with the rare euro only Dogleg 5 Speed. This example was sourced in Italy, and remains stock apart from a set of performance springs and upgraded engine and transmission mounts. The de-stroked S14 makes only 3 hp less than the 2.3L US-market M3 engine (192 vs. 195), but that this car weighs 242 lbs less than the M3 (2865 vs. 2623).

This is a very rare E30 only a handful have been imported into the US, and probably the only one in Atlanta if not the entire Southeast.

                    I’m guessing it is.

That price is a bit optimistic.

They aren't different in any dimension, and I've seen rumor that the sedan is more rigid, which I believe, because the E30 coupes I've worked on have flexy car symptoms like doors that are harder to open and close when the front or rear end is jacked up. I'm sure an M3 is stiffer than a regular coupe, but an M3 is also uglier than a regular coupe, and heavier, and incredibly expensive, so there's that.

Yeah, unpopular opinion I'm sure, but don't care. The trunk line is bulky, and the top of the C pillar is weird. The body looks unbalanced and rear-heavy. The E30 M3 is largely seen through nostalgia/fanboy goggles, it's awkward looking imo. I've seen plenty of them in person, from every angle, in many colors, and I don't buy the otherworldly hype.

Interesting plastic bumper 1991 318IS in Boca Raton, FL. $5,500; sheetmetal looks great, needs paint and some additional sorting.

Hmmm... a 318is with the wrong wheels and bad paint, where have I seen that before? Oh yeah I bought one a few years ago. For half the price of that. Plus my interior isn't mismatched, and the AC was cold when I bought it.
