Rob, knowing the young idiots around here and elsewhere, would you give them a gun? Little responsible girls who earn gold stars I trust more than pubescent boys. Testosterone makes 'em dumb fast. "Look what I can do!"

All boys should be forced to buy 4 banger cheap econ cars and NOT mod them, until they can prove they know how to drive and be responsible. If you total that civic, it's only $2k. If you don't, mommy and daddy will allow you to buy that BMW you've been saving up for.

Girls.....may be responsible, but can't drive worth shit. Buy 'em used safe Volvos, or she'll be begging for that Lexus.

If you total the E30 it's only $2k as well :) But easier to get in trouble with an E30 than a Civic for sure.

I've got 12 years under my belt and still suck. In my experience, people that claim to know everthing, only think that because they know so little.

Also true. I meant to add in FWD. If you mess up, it's easy to not mess up as much as you could in a RWD as a n00b.

And Dave, you stepped into a new realm of learning how to drive. Bet ya picked up on a few things this past weekend, am I right?

in my experience, FWD can be just as challenging to drive, especially recovering from getting lose, compared to RWD. I think the "fwd=safe" thing stems from the fact 90% of fwd are super low hp slow econoboxes. An idiot can kill himself and others in any car, no matter the configuration or hp or electronic water wings.

i think pushing is easier to recover from than the rear end coming out, and new drivers can freak out on oversteer and overcorrect, which is a cause of a good number of accidents. also, most agree fwd is easy in bad weather/snow

but i am with you that idiots can kill himself in any car, no matter what 'preventions' there may be. i'm just going to try to put the numbers in my kids favor.

have you ever seen a video of one of those 500 hp turbo civics? those things would be scary to drive. like Rob was saying, when you get power to a FWD car, it's no safer than any rwd car. probably even scarier and harder to drive.
