I'm not looking to make a ton of these and sell them for profit right now. I was going to make a few (5-6) and see how they turn out. Anyone ells wanting to do this should go ahead. I don't mind.

Ok. Here is my first TEST RUN. Shity wood, and the school has no chuck for the lathe. I'm hoping my landlords lathe has a chuck so I can drill out the hole for the shifter and properly machine the top of the knob. The wood was wet and had some cracks, but again it was juts a test run.
The top of the knob came out a bit smaller (width wise) and a bit taller then I wante it to. We just have small DIY wood lathes so its more of an eye thing unlike a metal lathe where you can work to very exact mesruments.
        Here's a bit how I did it.

I'm going to talk to my land lord about using her lathe (she already offered) and find some nicer wood and give it another go.

These are cool, couldn't you drill out the centers and add a lead weight and cover it up with a small bmw logo cap?

Here's a link to the part numbers for oem knob caps, this could be pretty sweet.

Thanks for all the great ideas guys. I mentioned use the lathe at the house to my landlord ad it seams like she will let me. Ill talk to her more about t today.
I like the weight idea. How ever what's the right weight?
Thanks for the link to the roundels.

That's pretty subjective. Some people like a heavier knob or vice versa.

The ZHP knobs are weighted 5.4oz.
