I think it would feel better weighted. could you just cut a hole in the top slightly narrower than the diameter of the emblem? then it could be filled with as much weight as the driver likes.

Custom knobs are out of the question right now. It would take to much of my time, and would cost to much. There is no way I could make custom shaped, and weighted knobs out of personally selected wood for individuals. I can't just buy a 4x4x4 price of rose wood or teak to make one knob. I'd have to by more and teak is something like $30 per linear foot. I don't have the money for that and nether do most of you. Exotic woods are quite pricy.
When and if I get around to this it will be one or two kinds of hard wood (a dark and a light) maybe oak and chestnut, two shapes, and one weight. That's all I could do at a price R3V would be willing to pay.
Ill get back when I have more definate facts on when and how I will do this.
Cheers guys!Last edited by deutschman; 10-26-2012, 08:25 PM.sigpic

Im getting some dark walnut wood from my instructor at a good price. The shity thing about turning wood is that there is so much waste when you take a square down to a circle. One of my friends at the school just bought a piece of mesquite that was about 24x4x4 and came in at $40 and that was cheap turning wood. Each knob is about three inches long when finished so thats about 7 knobs per 24" piece of wood at $6 per knob with out labor. Thats not to bad.
Add a few few bucks for led, hardware , stain and/or lacquer, and $5 shipping USPS flat rate box.
Ill machine the recess for a roundel, but you guys will have to supply your own roundel.
I am thinking $25 per knob (both Alpina style, and DTM style) shipped in the USA.
Reasonable?
Let me know.sigpic

cut but you'd have to suply your own roundel
That would just be to hard budy. I don't know what kind of wood it is, as I'd have to by a bunch of it and try and find a section that mached with direct acces the wheel. Sorrysigpic
