Ok I'll make one of each style and post pictures.
I picked up some cocobolo and found a piece of purplehart that I can maybe squeez one or two knobs out of.

Ill get back to this thread in a few days when I have a product to show. At that time Ill move this to the "For Sale" section.
Thanks so much for all the interest!!!

for anyone that doesnt want to use a set screw. you could put a channel down the hole and then use that to shove a small rectangle of wood to the top and glue it in place.

          hi deutschan,

i love this project, awesome work!!!

i can make alpina and bmw roundels for you if you want.....i already make wheel badges for alpina cars so would just be a smaller version.....the design is extremely accurate with the chrome and the white in he right places unlike stuff off ebay which is usually wrong. they are about 2mm deep and can be made in any size or design. here are some alpina wheel badges that i do...

Is this what you ended up using to set the knobs? On the ones i made i used a Brass insert (much like the plastic friction fit ones ) and epoxied that is there then drilled and taped threw the wood and brass, seamless fit. The problem im having is how to weight the knob.

I am still working on design and function. I am currently waiting on some tools to show up in the mail along with a shifter emblem from Steve.
I am not going to be able to produce these at volume at this point as I am using school machines, and affordable wood is hard to find right now. First run will be about 20-24 knobs. About 13 cocobolo, 10 walnut, and 1 or 2 purple hart (one of which is already spoken for).
Hang in here with me for a while. I did not expect so much interest or for things to move so quickly. Ill up date again soon.

                              Cheers guys!

Thanks bud. Right now I am just thinking that I will machine the knobs so that people can buy and fit their own choice of emblem. Ill let you know what size they will be and you can sell the emblems to the individuals who buy my knobs.

                                Cheers!
