^ now were talking. And I think the 5.0 would be the last motor I'd want in my car but I'm more of a Chevy guy anyway.

the only reason lots of people go the the 5.0 is the fact that it has a smaller footprint compared to sbc's. lots of jeep guys have been gravitating to fords in wranglers because its easier to stuff it in under the hood compared to a 350.

Because SBCs are getting hella expensive. SBCs have been put in everything. Everything. Demand is huge, so price has gone up.

Might have to go to europe to find parts, but...

None of the e30 awd driveline components would realistically work with another motor. Plus the splines on that front driveshaft are flimsy, at best.

You know that's not what I'm saying.

And unlike most people in this thread, I have owned, dismantled, and rebuilt an ix before. Actually, two of them.

In a realistic sense, you can't swap any random motor onto the existing driveline.

Just going to be brutally honest here, but if you had the money to actually pull off a build like this that IX would be in the trash can for something a little more suited.

Unless you were a purist that HAD to have an AWD BMW, which would cancel out the idea of a v8 swap in the first place and we're back to the above.

Pfft, just swap in a 2003 Range Rover drivetrain. It's all BMW shit anyways.

I was thinking about the Bugatti W16...it's awd too

I read somewhere it bolts up to a getrag 260 directly

Na still think you need an adaptor plate for the spacing of the starter d03.

I think any hyundai 1.5 starter should work without modification.

How about supercharging the M20? Get a big enough charger, and it will feel like a V8 while maintaining ease of resale while looking and sounding downright bad-ass.

I bet there are many more swapped E30's out there than supercharged ones..
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

This. Why aren't there more supercharged M20s?
