Nobody likes M20s and their breaking timing belts.

    ....except people with IXs.....

supercharging is lame. there are lots of turbo M20s and ix's though.

because superchargers have had their time and it ended 15 years ago. turbos are much more efficient.

A clutched Twin Screw would be sweet. I'd rather supercharge my M50 than turbo it. Plenty of power with a predictable power curve.
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

Oh, I like turbos just as much as the next guy. As much as our cars are tracked I expected more SC builds.

I like to autocross and I feel like a SC would be easier to manage/keep in boost on the short track. I feel like it'll be more predictable, like this guy says:

It's more predictable because it makes less power :p

Who would want instant boost anyway? pfft.

Would love to go supercharger, I would think the real reason you don't see more is that it is just easier to turbo your car. Superchargers require more fab work unless you get a pre-made kit.

Although you could get similar performance if you selected the correct turbocharger for a realistic application. I have contemplated throwing a 951 turbo we have in the shop onto the Ix. Should make for a lag free 250-260whp car.

^ that sounds like fun! I never got to drive a 951, always heard they have a lot of lag when stock.

Why not do an awd twin turbo v12 with a mclaren f1 swap while wee're on the subject? Maybe with a 2013 Nissan Skyline drivetrain swap? ;)
I mean anything's possible when you're in dreamland...

I got the original idea from a story where someone put a 5 liter into an old sierra/merkur awd and turned it into a nuts franken car.

Wow a lot o good discussion here: I wasn't expecting this much talk over my dumb daydreams lol.

On another note, a friend of mine is looking at turbocharging an IX, so I guess this wasn't all for nothing.

They do, but I am pretty positive it is due to the ridiculous distance the exhaust has to travel to reach the turbo. The turbo itself is not very big, and considering the 2.5 liters of displacement it doesn't make sense. My best guess is the exhaust gases have too much time to cool and slow, thus the later spool up.

That said, Porsche designed one hell of a high speed track car.

Ya that's true, aren't they one the complete opposite side of the motor. Are you using the k26 or the k28?
