I've always heard m30 is bulletproof. It seems that the m20b27 with a five speed doesn't quit either.

The m10 is solid, but since its a 4 cylinder it doesn't count. The m20 breaks when the belt does, I agree, the m30 wins hands down, just keep fresh oil in it and you'll run it 400k miles. It's basically the m10 plus another half.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

Why does the M10 not count? And IMO it's more stout than the M30.

            M10 counts because M12

Many people have 250k miles plus on their M54s on e46fanatics, I love mine on my e46.

The only 600hp+ "M70" was actually the S70/2 from the McLaren F1. The M70 itself was a bit of a pig.

I vote M10 as well. Especially since the M30 and arguably the best formula 1 engine of all time was based on it.

S52/M50 is maintenance free....no timing belt, no valve adjustments.

Weld the pump nut just once, replace the VANOS every 120k miles and you're good to go!

M10 has 1/3 less shit to go wrong than the M30 therefore wins.

i would love to build an allmotor race M10 something around 300hp and 9000rpm

I'm curious to know why no "S" engines have been mentioned, I love my s38 (269,000 miles strong) and I hear great things about the s54...

And it would do it too. I've always wanted to see a 10k redline M10.

They're finicky if you don't take care of them.

Every engine is bulletproof if you take good care of it. The real exceptional ones are the engines that can take the beating, keep going, and still be neglected.

M30 and M20, all the way.
