So Why exactly are you modding your car???

So much of the discussion here is about modding the e30. Which is great as it provides a nice database - as long as you know what is crap and what is not.

But in reality, it seems to me that among regular posters (not lurkers) there are maybe a dozen or so that actually put these mods to their proper use.

So it got me thinking - why in the world are so many of you kiddies spending your minimum wages from Blockbuster or Subway or whatever on Stage IIIs, konis, big wheels, etc.

    Seriously.

    cause its more visually appealing?
I dunno, i just want a better handling car. Exhaust and suspension is about the extent of my mods. But i like to autox and what not. But a 4x4 car looks like shit, handles like shit, and is in general, no fun. not like these cars are expensive? WHy not make them handle exceptionally well, while maintaining a classic look?

none of the above but I voted for track use
I mod the car currently for Mountain drives, but plan on taking it to the track as soon as I'm done with school and have a job that can fund $300+ track weekends. 95% of my mods are done with track intentions in mind, like the roll bar, coilovers, etc......

So I can brag on a forum about how much I track the car.

I autox, but all I've really done is new springs, shocks, and a chip. That's some extreme modding. Whoa.

Everyone online is doing it, and I don't want to be lame in their eyes. I mod my car to have a reason to make a new Member Rides thread and get e-props for my Ronals and shadowline and IE stage 3 drop.

I may work for min wage and even go into debt to roll how i do, but i have forum cred and that's worth a lot. Hell, I don't even care if I couldn't drive it, as long as I got props for my modding.

My car will see maybe 2 auto-x's and maybe 1 track day a year, so my modding is done mainly just to make the everyday driving experience more enjoyable. Im also only rocking Bilstein HD's/ OE sport springs and euro trim, so its not really modded out all that much.

                What? No Rob option?

I actually had to vote seriously this time.

Anyhow... the 325i became more of a drift car. Still a long way before completed (college student + expensive hobby dont mix well). I would like to attend some track events and autocrosses with it, but it's main purpose is drifting.

Because having a 20 year old car with an engine and wheels that, each, outvalue the rest of the car makes the money grubbin honeys panties drop.

I think I am fucking myself, though, as I only drive it to race and to travel. I should be crusing the Ho Houses.

Who the fuck actually makes minimum wage?
                    Im now E30less.

but really, so i will have a car that is track worthy once my work schedule actually permits me a track weekend... plus i dont make minimun wage...

I actually bought smaller wheels than what my car came with.. :?

of course I do it because I want to, and I enjoy working on my car, but I probably like driving it a lot more than I like working on it. there's a total of 17 local autox's I could make this year and I'm going to try to go to every one if I can. I don't really have a lot of "show" mods on my car anyway, I prefer a clean stock look to a super custom hack job.
