maybe.... but what is the discount for a salvage title?
lets say this car sells for 15k.....body work and paint is perhaps 5-6k plus whatever else it may need is....???? you would probably have somewhere in the mid to high 20's invested in this to make it a nice car. i doubt its worth much more than that.
the m3 parts car i have came with a salvage title. this was before the prices on these went ape shit. i nice one was only about 15k in those days. it was missing the rear seat, suspension, and engine/trans. since it had been hit in the rear, i felt like the only recourse would be to use the parts to make an m3 cabrio and sell off the rest. had i purchased this car today, i would probably think differently but it was way worse than the one in the copart auction.Last edited by flyboyx; 03-06-2015, 05:40 AM.sigpic

People make a lot of noise about salvage rebuilt, do you know that a lots of cars out there have salvage history that does not shows in carfax or anywhere, they started branding titles after 1997, what about muscle cars from the 60s and 70s the demand a premium and there is very little if any information on most of them, I am not saying is nothing wrong with a bad history on cars, but if the car got damaged at some point and it was properly fixed should not really stop you if you really want, is price right and it looks good, don't let salvage history scare you.Comment

Somewhere along the line, the auction was switched from a pure sale to reserve not met.sigpic

Good grief, that is a lot to spend on something that is salvage titled and has a secondary damage listing of "mechanical," but absolutely no description of what mechanical damage it has. I also doubt the veracity of the "actual mileage" claim since the trip odo is all 0s.Comment

Damn, I remember when something like that would barely get $8k. I remember a few years back some guy was going to part out a perfectly fine running and driving M3 unless somebody wanted to buy the whole thing for $8k. It's absolutely insane how things have changed.Comment
