so the angular acceleration and forces the belt experiences going around a pulley (which is related to position/time and diameter of the pulley)

phew, for a second there I thought you meant the belt itself goes in different directions (counterclockwise and clockwise) LOL
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

        WAT.

Turbo M20 on a stock timing belt will be just fine.

I'm not debating that, I was responding to an earlier comment that the timing belt wouldn't see a difference between a a stock NA engine and a FI engine. I can see FI increasing the load on the timing belt.

im thinking the only time you would need a racing belt is if you have an aggressive cam and stiffer valve springs or you're increasing redline severely. i would however spare the expense and get a racing belt ever on a stock motor since it is not much more expensive and its a bit of peace of mind. just my 2 cents

I just got the Blue belt cause it was cheap and looks sexy.

Itll look even sexier once I get rid of distributor and do an exposed cam gear for show ;)

Whether it's technically reusable doesn't really matter. It's the single most important (and talked about) maintenance item on an e30 and the conti I just bought (belt only) was about $13.

Why on earth anyone would change a head and not spend that for a new belt defies logic....unless you are so cheap you are also reusing your head gasket :)

He isn't wrong, just because you haven't had an issue doesn't make it the correct way of doing things.

It is common practice and recommended by every auto manufacturer I've worked for.

It should be fine....the reason you replace them is fatigue(from bending and on/off tension) & or age(dry rot)....you have neither at 1500 mi. However, if you nick it or damage it in the process of removing it, you should replace it.

Use a Geotze head gasket and new studs. Reuse the belt.
