Late model Plastic Bumpers.

For the sedans, they had metal (aluminum) bumpers aka diving boards through 88 and 89 through 92/93/ End of E30 Model Cycle had the plastic bumpers.

88 was a weird transition year that had metal bumpers but the late model valences in the front and rear.

Verts were a different story and had metal bumpers (and small tails) through 90/91 I think

I have the diving boards on the late 89 build, 1990 model year Verty30. Can the newer plastic setup be easily switched over. Kinda like the plastic bumper look, but worried they will not fit tight.

Convertibles didn't switch to plastic bumpers until 1991.

You need to find a late model front valence, late model front bumper and a late model rear bumper. Make sure you have the Bumper shock/mounts and its all a bolt on. Only issue your car might have is the front tow hook may need to be cut off, as thats what you have to do on the early models. The tow hook on the late model setup is integrated into the mount

Not bidding on the M3, but Miramar Auto Body fixed my 97 Estoril M3 when it was hit on the rear drivers quarter in a parking. They did fantastic work.
