No. Alpina has always allowed the option of using their cloth or factory out fitting. Even going back to the E30's. That's why you'll see some with stock, leather sport seats vs. the Recaro's.

I'd have that over an E30 M3 for sure.

Not sure I agree with you on that one Varg. Wheeler Dealers just rehabbed one of those beasts. They added a third wing.

Well, the M3 is at 42.5k right now and the Ford is at 34.5k. Not sure which one will actually sell but both cars are definitely fun in their own way

Wheeler Dealers just did a show on the Ford where they added a third wing. Didn't look right to me but to each his own.

Nice M3 with strong history. Only 2 hours. Should be interesting.

Eh, I just don't buy all of the hype over E30 M3s, especially at their current prices - for the money there are many other cars I'd rather have. I'd much rather have a faster, lighter AWD rally car than an M3 which is heavier and slower than my crappy E30. I've never had an AWD car, and that Escort would be a good place to start with AWD. I also find a regular 325/318is with upgraded wheels better looking than an E30 M3

Adding yet another wing to that car though, sounds ricey.

I gotta agree with varg here, I think I proper early and even late can look better than an m3.

BUT, I would love to own an e30 m3 one day... just because.... m3. It's a racecar for the road.

I wouldnt spend $46k on one, even if its a "good deal" though I do wish the one that sold with the S14 for about $12k last year was the best deal. Track car, already prepped, some damage so no worries behind bumping. Thats the one to go with

That was a good Wheeler Dealers episode. For those of you that didn't see it, the original designer of the Ford Cosworth, Frank Stephenson (Ferrari F430, new Mini, McLaren P1, etc., etc., etc.) stopped by the Wheeler Dealers garage. He told Ant (Edd China's replacement) that the original Cosworth design had 3 wings. He also brought a scale model of the car with 3 wings. Stephenson said the bean counters removed the 3rd wing from the final production design. Not to my taste, but the 3rd wing is true to the original design.

Those are collector prices for those who have the means and want to add a nice M3 to the collection. I don't think many of us would pay that much because we wrench and know what a standard E30 is capable of. Although if I didn't already have M3's, I can't say that I wouldn't pay $30k-40k to grab an iconic piece of BMW motorsport history. When you look at it that way, 30-40k seems like a bargain compared to other collectible cars. For the price of a new camry that will depreciate significantly, one could have a collectible E30 M3 that won't.

Not to mention,,, ~15,000-ish people paid exactly that for them between 1987 and 1991...
The fact that almost 30 years later they are selling for sticker isn't that big a deal (its annoying to us owners who still would want more of them, but no not that big a deal or even surprising) for a car as iconic as the E30M3.

The E30M3 was never about "fast"
Anyone who comparing the E30M3's "fast" or lack thereof to anything between a modded regular E30 and a new minivan just doesn't get the car at all and what it is / was.
Keep moving, its not the car for you...

Ant may be his replacement but there is no substitute for Edd, wouldn't be surprised if the show is done after this season......
