I got to watch, and benefit, as the air-cooled 911 market went up. Now I sell restorations that are 500% of what we used to pay for a completed car- and I kinda regret it. I didn't get rich and I priced myself out of the market for cars I now love.
But... there are more wheel choices than ever. There are more restoration parts available now than ever. There’s the ability to build something and get out of it right if you want to change things up. If i play my cards right and increase my profits, I can buy a car and have the most options I’ve had during the 13 years I’ve been playing with Porsche.
I’m building my ‘90 to sell. I’m impatient and have a hard time saving five figures for the car I want so I’d rather build a car I can break even on or sell for that amount while developing relationships with suppliers and used parts guys. I’m depending on the market to be strong so I can buy a tub and enough parts to get my next project rolling.
