    M52

Ive had a solid M20b27. Would love an m20 turbo, but for N/A M52

I've always been attracted to the M30 swaps, but I'm going with a M52tu (M54).

        the m/s50/2 are my choice

the info on the swap is readily available, the parts are easily sourced for relatively cheap. Lots of knowledge. Smooth running engine, decent HP, decent mpg, good reliability, reasonable cost. Steel block is slightly more reliable for a DIYer to handle as well.

as m54 prices come down they may edge out the 50/2 series but the aluminum block would make me nervous as a DIYer.

why? Most BMW 6's have been made out of aluminum (or magnesium) for the past 17 years. It's not like it's brand new or something.

Right? That's the only way someone could convince me an M5x is worth the trouble over a nice M20.

The M20 is a great motor for what it is. When I see someone do an iron-block m5x, I wonder what other short-cuts were taken.

For just daily driving, m20. For a swap (staying with an m engine) m30. Anything else s50/2.
