Just went out and did 2 more 0-60 runs and somehow managed to pull off a 12.00. It was 96 degrees F. I much more please with the 12 second 0-60 even though it is still very slow, im still wondering what other people a running with stock eta's.97 tacoma 5 spd 4 cylinder

im using the most precise method i could think of, a video camera viewing the tach and speedometer. after the videos are made i put them on my computer and by looking at the tach and speedo i can determine the exact start and stop of the run and use the time shown at the bottom of the media player, can also skip frame by frame which helps to be very precise.

I am in no way saying that the eta was a bullet, but my eta (@ 186k miles) could do zero to 60 under 8. I wish I had some way of proving it, but I did time it several times.
12 seems very slow to me, but I could be crazy.
And yes JGood, I agree with you about the eta as a street car. The torque is great. I never had my eta over 110-115ish, but it didnt really have any trouble getting there.Comment

You must have had lots of mods because stock bmw says it does an 8.2 i think and road and track test drive showed a 9.0I am in no way saying that the eta was a bullet, but my eta (@ 186k miles) could do zero to 60 under 8. I wish I had some way of proving it, but I did time it several times.

Exactly. I'm sicking of everyone saying eta's are slow as shit. It's like going on a honda board and reading about them bashing on mustangs. I would love to throw a set of 3.73's on my friends eta. With 2.93's and a chip, he was running consistent 16.2's with horrible launches. What do most 325i's do? Oh yeah... mid to high 15's. That's definitely smoking the etaI am in no way saying that the eta was a bullet, but my eta (@ 186k miles) could do zero to 60 under 8. I'm not saying I would take an eta on the track... that's what I bought a 325is for. But quit saying the car is slow and useless - it's not.Comment

chill out great ETA defender..They are good at what they were made for, very dependable, good gas mileage..I almost bought one for my DD, but ended up buying a honda, slow ass balls and slower than en ETA...No one on here is bashing them..90is, longtube headers/straight pipe/mark d 18# 93 0ctane chip/18# injectors/vogtland springs/bilst. sports

I'm chill, it's not that big of a deal, I'm just sayin every thread I read on these forums that mentions an eta, people start bashin them. When people ask for advice buying an e30, everyone always says to stay away from an eta. And more BS is spread in this thread - people saying an eta will not be as quick to 60 as a 325i with a chip and equal gearing. That's not true.
It's like a Mustang forum telling people to stay away from a 5.0 and go with a 4.6, because the peak power is higher and it's faster up top. There's different engines for different powerband preferences.Comment

I'd take an eta to a track day in a heart beat.. I know a BMW instructor that takes his DD Mini S to the track and passes Ferraris. It is much slower, but he is a better driver than the ego maniac Ferrari drivers.
I know another instructor that drove the Ring recently in a rented E87 118d and he was passing E46 M3's. Blew the motor later that day though, luckily off the track.
So to me speed isnt a big deal really.
I'm headed to the shop now to put a new heart in my 325is. I'll compare and contrast.Comment
