JV won '97 because of lucky breaks and having an unbeatable williams. He was not a good driver, never has been. Then once he 'retired' all we heard was his input and dislike for 'driver of the week' that he was in a tiff with. JV had an opinion for everything, much likd DC, but atleast DC makes sense every once in a while. JV especially disliked MS because he tried to take him out, which he kinda did.

Anyway: id love to see Senna in F1. Ferrari line up of Senna and Massa... would be badass
      I don't think you're a jerk off, I just think that was a jerk-off comment.
How can you say JV is, and has never been, a good driver? He is one of the most successful drivers in history. I don't think it was luck that won him is one WC. But I will agree there was issues with that season.
And was he just lucky to win the INDY500 and KART championship? I think he is a damn good driver and I still wanna see him win a NASCAR title and attempt to win the 24hrs again next year.
I don't know anymore then how i've seen him drive/win/lose though. You obviously have more information on what kind of person he is.

                  From crash.net:

German publication Auto Bild Motorsport, meanwhile, has suggested that rather than signing Alonso, and backed by chief sponsor Marlboro, Ferrari could launch a staggering €60 million bid to poach the highly-rated Sebastian Vettel away from the Red Bull fold in 2009, should Raikkonen elect to hang up his helmet – a claim the reigning title-winner was quick to rubbish.

Yeah they were talking about that at practice today. Seems kind of strange really with Kimi saying he has a contract for 2009 and he will fulfill it. Don't know why Ferrari would be actively searching for a racer if he is.

I dont think Ferraris line up next year would be Massa and Senna. I just think it would be a good [for publicity atleast] line up.

No more Silverstone past next years too :(

Except for his performance at Indianapolis with BMW-Sauber in 2007, I don't see why Ferrari think so highly of Sebastian Vettel. He's a decent driver at best, whenever he doesn't DNF he struggles to get into the points. Sure the STR is a crap car and shouldn't be used to gauge any driver, but why does Ferrari think he's such a great driver? If I were SF, I'd be eyeing Alonso. Sure with Alonso goes a lot of politics and controversy, but he is a good driver and communicates well with the mechanics... even if he is all about himself.

Just look at the times he put down today, he was trading fast times with Heikki and was doing very well, he has held onto his points against superior teams and really other than bad luck at the beginning of the season has driven a great year. Add onto that that he is almost 4 years younger than Lewis Hamilton and is only getting better every race you start to see that if he's not considered good now, he is at least very likely to become one of the better drivers in the series. I mean every time it has rained he has just blown through the pack, so it shows that when most cares are rendered equal due to conditions he can still press on. He has a good attitude and needless to say I think highly of him and would prefer someone like him or even Senna on the team than Alonso. That just seems wrong somehow to have Alonso on Ferrari.

Very true. I don't know though, Vettel doesn't strike me as a world class driver. I guess time will tell though.

                            Silverstone Quali:

WTF was the deal with Kubica in Q3? The tires weren't on the car with 2:00 remaining in the session, and Varsha or Matchett made some comment about the mechanics observing the transmission. I really, really hope that that doesn't pose an issue for tomorrow and that Kubi can make it through the pack alright. Good to see Heidfeld showing some pace though. How about Webber? Awesome to see him on the podium, I think he was amazed by how well the RB4 held up through Q2 and Q3. It was also nice to see Kovalainen snatch the pole. Tomorrow should be interesting, moreso if it rains.

Ok - who caught the British GP quali this morning? Anyone know why Kubica didn't go out to set a time in Q3? His teammate out-qualified him for the first time this season. And what about Mark Webber.......stellar job today.

Saw it. Kubica said it was a problem from the rear that he had had during one of Friday's practice sessions. I'm not sure what he meant by the rear, maybe the suspension or the transmission or something. Hopefully whatever it is will be resolved by tomorrow's race.
