Purse is my mom's, that is a Hayne's manual, the Raid was for some ants that were on the porcelin tile that was outside for a couple weeks, the wallet is mine, those aren't fishing bobber, they are urethane dust boots for the control arm and tie rods, and they came in that Fedex box PHEW 8)

be careful of draining all your fluid TJ, if you drain it out of the ABS system you'll have to take it in to have the pump cycled.

Day 4:

The rest of my parts arrived, including the urethane subframe and CAB's (already pressed into my brackets), K&N panel filter (got it for free so I will try it out), and VHT brake caliper paint.

I installed the CAB's, it was a piece of cake.

Put a final top coat on the strut bar. It looks nice in the engine bay!

Removed all the calipers, brake lines, and rotors. Installed from SS brake lines.

Dropped the catalytic converter, and the exhaust heatshielding.

Dropped the drive shaft.

Disconnected everything from the rear trailing arms, and dropped the rear subframe.

Tonight I am going to go pick up my friend's torch and torque wrench so I can install the new bushings and reinstall the subframe tomorrow. Then I am going to get ready to pull the automatic tranny out.

Nah, an impact driver sounds right.....looks nothin like that, it looks like some cheap mans tool

My uncle has this $350 snap-on tool, I call it the screw driver hammer thingy.......put the bit in, place it in the screw, and bang with a hammer......

I love using the BFH method......but customers get worried when i bring it out :shock:

It's called an Impact Driver. They work awesome, my dad has one.

TJ, thats pretty amazing. Your car is going to feel amazing and solid when you finish. I just did all new delrin bushings in my car two days ago in the shop, and I am very excited to see how you like the newfound harsness and noise that comes from the subframe bushings (especially 1st gear noise) :-)

I doubt it can be any louder than my shot, worn out old bushings were! It creaked like a mofo.

do you guys have urethane subframe bushings? I am not talking about squeaking or anything. You can hear the differential all the time, whether you are going 5 mph or 150 mph. The noise I am talking about is gear whine and drivetrain noise.

I don't understand what you are saying. Do you mean that either urethane or delrin rear subframe bushings transmit gear noise? Drivetrain noise is one thing, but the only reason you shoud ever hear gear noise from your rear diff is if some of the gears or bearings are worn or slightly worn.

What's your opionion on delrin? My experience with urethane up front has been a pleasant one. The feedback is noticeably improved and the increased noise transmission is negligible. I am doing my rear subframe and trailing arm bushings soon and don't know what I'm using yet. I've heard that the urethane rear subframe bushings can crack? What are your thoughts on delrin bushings on a car that sees a lot of track, but still spends more time on the street. I've always been lead to believe delrin is not the kind of substance you want your bushings made out of on a car that will be on the street.

i can't hear my diff.. if you can there is probably something wrong. I can hear my fuel pump if I'm going slow (it's louder with the windows down), but otherwise my car is quiet.

No. Delrin subframe bushings and delrin trailing arm bushings transmit the noise of the differential though the chassis, period. No way around it, thats a side effect. The subframe mounts are so solid that they act like metal, linking the diff/subframe to the mounts in the chassis under the rear seat, then transmitting all related noise thoughout the cabin. My differential is in great shape, and I have all new bearings, and it whines. Not loud, but loud enough.

Anyways C ///M, I think that they are perfect from track/street use. My car feels great on the street. Check out RTRS' bushings for the rear, you will be pleasantly suprised.

no, just urethane. I take it you have derlin? I guess that could make drivetrain vibrations louder.

if you want it that stiff, why not just go with solid aluminum? :P
