bought some trashed style 32's for 300 bucks
sanded down the curb rash and painted them
installed 318ti wheel bearings and hubs
waiting on adapters for e36 m3 brakes
got a m3 rep spoiler and gurney flap
unfortunatly yes, the current m62 is toast, i ran for 5 min with no oil so the lower end started seizing, im picking up two m60's this weekend
ill post some more detailed pictures when i have time,
pretty much what happened was i cut the fittings off and welded AN fittings so i could run a oil cooler, inside the oil filter housing is a check valve, i thought it was a thermostat, so i had the lines backwards, i thought the supply line would go closest to the oil pressure sensor, but from the diagram, its actually the other way, so the oil filter housing fills up and has no where to go, the oil pump pressure regulator opens and the engine runs without oil supply
in the diagram #5 is oil supply from pump
#24 is pressure sensor, its right next to the return line #6
why is the check valve there? IDK because there is a third fitting that drains the oil that is left over back to the pan
ok.... so its been awhile, pulled the m62, salvaged electronics off it, block and heads were toast.
Met some great guys just north of me with tons of m60 stuff
bought two m60s for cheap
ones off in another build by my buddy adam
decided on a m60 because of price and also the obd1 swap for the m62 all comes down to the cam trigger wheel pickup, i had problems with the cam sensor dropping the signal... not worried about the .4 loss
also the the m60 timing chain setup seems better for beating on...
new motor in, runs great now that the oil lines are in the right place lol
couple videos on on my instagram
new fenders and new flares thanks too a good friend adam, added even more width with spacers
ok... for the big update... as much as i loved the look of the rear scoop for the rear radiator, i have always loved the look of a nice e30 pickup.
ive seen quite a few in the past years and could never pull the trigger!
but i did it, i cut the fucking roof off, she gone...
welded in some square tubing to the trunk floor for bracing, then rear supports to the roll bar, cut out the old supports that wernt even going to the right place.
added gussets to the body to stiffen up whats left of the roof, i still need to finish it obviously, plan is to just cap the top and leave it open.
doesnt need windows/security, wont drive it in the rain, or on the street.
wonder if the track will even let me on...
got some new control arms, beefy mofos! OEM balljoints, just need to make/buy some tie rods that reach the hubs
got the radiator back up front, bought some shitty coils untill i can afford the real deal, had alot of projects going on at the time - 190e - e30ix
my favorite
SIDE NOTE
bought a e28 535is AUTO with a cracked oil pan, didnt even try to run it and pulled the motor right out, im not a fan of m30s, not sure why but she gone.
swapped in my only friend adams old m20 and getrag 260.
bought some 42s? i think - i forget now - didnt have them long - refinished them and traded for 5s
they looked good, just not what i was going for on the e28
Found some spacers on craigslist. walk into the guys garage, guy had a super clean euro spec bagged e28, he mentioned he was going to sell the bag setup to go for coilovers. bought them next day, had to, too good of a deal to pass up, who doesnt like a bagged e28 anyways...
oh and some euro headlights!
upgraded the lines to make them a little faster, used nice stainless bulkhead fittings where needed
surfing ebay, stumbled upon some cheap mille miglias in canada
spent rent money on them bitches - rare size too 17x8.5 17x9.5
sadly, i havent driven this all winter.. hoping to jump back onto this in the summer and fix a few things... and maybe drive it!
SIDE NOTE 2!
sitting at work. doing my usual craigslist searching. coworker comes up and pushes me off my computer saying i gotta check out this shit... he pulls up a e30 about 100 miles away, been sitting for 10 years... guy finally wants to sell it
86 325es with a M3 body kit
whatttttt 16" BBS rs - real! instantly was like this is way to much for me to afford.
i text the guy, make my offer, tell him ill give him a healthy deposit if he just gives me three days!
sold a IX i thought i wanted
sold the style 5s i JUST finished
used more food and rent money...
begged dad for a 1k front for 2 weeks lol
coworker was nice enough to tow it home for me - he was as excited as i was
loaded it up, never drove it, didnt care! just knew i had to have it
yeah it needs some love, its been great so far, had it a few months now
stole the radiator out of the v8 pickup e30 so i could daily it.
first thing i did was a t-belt
- gates t belt - might as well
Adam gave me some interior pieces - dudes the shit
its already got H&R sway bars and springs with Koni shocks
LSD diff - not sure of the ratio - tag is missing
here some more pics of it after a good wash/cutt/buff
finally got my second set of calipers on the rear
just need to make brake lines
INFO
found out early 325e like 84 and 85 share the smaller wheel bearing that 318i and 318ti use
so i was able to keep my reinforced 84 325e trailing arms and use 318ti wheel bearings and hubs
then with a caliper adapter i was able to use e36 m3 brake calipers and e36m3 vented rotors in the rear
