Just got the core support attachment system figured out and welded up. Also Ordered a couple 10' aluminized steel exhaust pipes in 2"ID from Napa. They get em next day and they were $35 each. I'm gonna put a cherry bomb on each one and do dual 2" all the way back. I know the common thing to do is 3" single, but I don't think I like the sound of single exhaust. And I wanna have a tail pipe at each rear corner instead of two on one side next to each other. Since this car is an 87, I don't have to worry about the pesky rear valance and it's sexy refined exhaust tip cutout.Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"Comment

Just imagine this scoop, inside painted red. Outside wrinkle black with the raised bits sanded just to the metal. M30 valve cover done up the same way. Fu-huh-huh-huh-huck! So sexy. OMgoodness.

You know, the more I think about it, ya got a point. I'm looking at the m60 harmonic balancer ("HB" from now on), and I realized that I can change the clocking of the gap in the teeth by changing the indexing hole on the HB. I will have to have a machine shop make the inside hub-centric hole diameter larger by 1/4" and the ridge on the back side taken off as well. Then move the 8 bolt holes out 3/8" but then I get a 7 rib multi-V main pulley and a secondary 5 rib multi-V pulley for something. Maybe I have them take that off as well. I was also thinking of trying to do a single belt, serpentine style.Last edited by Ether-D; 11-13-2014, 05:47 PM.Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"Comment

Ok, now I done bought this from The dark side of Will here on the forum. He's a super good dude, btdubz. This is a 1.5l Opcon Autorotor OA-3150 "twin screw" supercharger. It's basically the same size as the Eaton m90 from my m20 build, but about 25% more efficient. So it makes 3-4 more lbs of boost without raising the intake temps. I'm gonna shoot for about 10psi outta this little contraption. Scrumptious.

twin screw is the ONLY way to go. I have a clutched twin screw off the c32 amg waiting to go on my fun car. Good choice in supercharger!2003 Z4 3.0 6-speed- Silver, 19's, daily driver

Thanks Guise! So who has clever ideas about where I can tap some pressurized oil to feed it? It has an inlet and outlet on the intake side for rear bearing oiling. So I'm gonna need some erl from somewhere, and a drain also I reckon.Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"Comment

I haven't been doing a whole lot lately, but I did start to get the exhaust figured out. It'll go from the 1 7/8" stock down pipes, to stock "H" pipe then dual into the cat. It's some 2" dual inlet/outlet high flow somethingorother. Then I'm gonna have a couple 12" glass packs then some 2" pipe back to dual 24" glass packs at the ends of the tail pipe where the factory muffler was. I have no idea how it will sound. But it will have cost me about $80. $35 for 10' of the 2" pipe, and $45 for the 2 rear glass packs. Everything else so far was from the e30 parts hoard.
I think I'm spending all this time on exhaust because I don't wanna a do the motor wiring. I really don't wanna.Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"Comment

I just junked my Mazda Millenia.. After seeing this thread I'm kicking myself for not pulling the Lysholm out of it.

The supercharged Mazda Mellinias had something called a "Miller Cycle" I think. Look it up on the wikipedias. It's weird. It involves the actual engine and valves and such more than other types of supercharger setups.
But yes, twin screw is generally referred to as Lysholm as well.Last edited by Ether-D; 11-22-2014, 02:25 PM.Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"Comment
