I know your after weight savings and the 996 has a reworked suspension compared to my old 78' SC. I suggest you look at more data on the battery weight savings versus the slight change in how the nose will feel in mid corner. I think the weight helps you on track and in the canyons with your mostly street car.

Rear coilovers are all adjusted and in, save for the sway bar arms. Those should happen one of these nights, but for now I wanted to get started on removing the mufflers and beginning the install of the sporty shorty mufflers. Weighed the old hardware and they came up a little more than what I have seen online (~20#), but mine have the gundo/fister mod done and I also threw in all the hardware since none of it will be needed with the new stuff. It came in right at 28/29# for one side.
Excited to hear what this will sound like. It will be loud, but shouldn't be as bad as the straight up deletes. Not quite finished, but close to being done for one side. I will add a support hanger since its otherwise just a clamp on the exhaust.
Once the front is done and it goes in for another alignment, I will get it corner balanced again and this time the weight should be under 3000# as I will also have removed the spare. I have the carbon fiber hood and (eventually) the Antigravity battery that should shave ~50+ pounds off the nose. Once thats all done, I should be around 2920 based on my calculations. I think I can find more weight to shave off the rear since I dont want to shift the balance to the back anymore than it is.

Rear Godspeed Coilovers are out, but sadly cant install the new ones just yet... No nuts for the top mounts and also cant find my coilover adjusters, so hopefully this weekend...

[Pulled the bumper last night to clean out the radiator ducts
Not so many leaves, but lots of butterflies and a few cigarette butts lol
It was also nice to see a small skid plate under the front bumper, as well as the CSF center radiator

I think this might have been my friend Steven from Paso Robles. He's also a VW guy. He and his friend Scott co-drove Scotts 510 when we were autoXing.

Awesome pics, kneejerk response to the VW is 412 Kamback. (no I did no searches)
Sorry you got scammed, it sucks when that happens, I lost a nice bunch on a really weird Bimmerforums scam on door cards for the Z3

Took Friday off because it was my birthday and went up to Good Vibes again. The full route up from Angeles Crest highway was open again and its shocking how much faster it is when you dont have to go around the mountain...
I was in no rush to get home, so took more pics this time.
These were my favorites:
Some clean aircooleds...
And now... name that VW!? (I know, but do you?!)
Lambo Murci, gated. Yes
Ferrari 355, modded
In car related news, I FINALLY picked up my GT3 coilovers from Glen Yee Motorsports / GYM. He included a little notebook about what shock tuning is and what a shock dyno means, followed by the shock dyno. He said I was going to really like these, especially compared with the Godspeed Coilovers..
Cant wait to get these on!... sadly because I got scammed it will take longer since I dont have top mounts. I think I know where I will get them from, but it wont be as soon as I want

Excited to see how you make out at Laguna Seca.
That's a bucket list track for me, after playing it in video games for so many years. Too bad it's 2800 miles away from me.

Went on my usual Saturday Morning meeting and drive. Havent done it in a while and man oh man was it a foggy start. One side of the mountain was clear, but at the peak and the coastal side... white-out.
Had a few 'cosmetic' items show up this last week too. Have an update on the interior coming, but had to skip the steering wheel when that Carbon Fiber hood popped up. That will come soon once I sell a few more parts.
Excited to get these in the car.
I also dropped off the car at RedLine Service to have them flush the brake fluid, check the brakes and other items to make sure I'm good when I go to Laguna Seca in less than 2 weeks. They are also going to install the GT3 brake ducts that were the first thing I bought for the car, over a year ago haha

Simon, look into 5.1 fluid.. way better than dot 4 and it's backwards compatible. Performs way better at high temp. Not to be confused with dot 5 tho.
I would just let the shop provide the fluid and save that fluid you have on hand for a diy service

Took it up to another GVBC and had a great day.
Some other cars in attendance that I enjoyed:
Short-stroke 3.2 on Motec with a 915. Owner was great. @dadanosbest on IG
Wealthy car collector @bigfuknfstdaddy on IG . He owns the Red Pikes Peak 997TT among several other cars. He's like the Jon Daly of the LA car scene LOL
Some (former) Hoonigans
Trying to get my car (and mind) prepped for the PCA Laguna Seca event on June 16. I want to flush the brake fluid, install the GT3 brake ducts and get it teched. They wont let me self tech, so its tempting to pay a shop to do that... and maybe change the gear oil too, but in the blink of an eye it gets expensive. I think I want to tackle the brake fluid myself and have the shop doing the tech deal with the gear oil. I have some Swepco 201 that never got used in my old Datsun, but not sure a shop will let me provide my own fluid... so any suggestions are welcome.
