Luckily for you the hard part appears to be done- via that photo of the cruise control connector you can see the cruise clutch switch/bracket with a connector plugged into it, aka your car still has the factory cruise harness installed in the dash.

via the video you shared of the engine swap, they added a late model coolant overflow where the early cruise actuator would mount. If you bought a late model actuator/bowden cable w/bracket to mount at the airbox and plugged it into that harness plug under the dash, I bet you’d have working cruise, assuming there’s still a cruise stalk on the column

In other news, I finished the suspension last night and drove it to work today.

Main annoying cosmetic item is the check panel keeps falling out because that front sunroof panel is deteriorated & current drivability issue is the alignment pulls slightly to the right.

Just the right spec of POS :)

Approaching the final look on the face, sort of... this is kinda what I started with. missing fogs was something I wanted to replace.


The cowcatcher fogs are hard to find and I ended up finding a set of 3D printed adapters which use the basic early model fogs. Install was easy and looked good.


I was tempted to help Bezos but decided FCP Euro was a better source to purchase as they will replace these fogs free of charge.

One item closer to less sh!tbox...

I agree, I was on the fence and then I noticed the ebay ad that I was watching was down to his last set so I said f'it and bought them along with the brand new Uro lenses. Now I just need an actual foglight switch to see if they work haha

However, once I was actually under the car , it became obvious why there was no backing plate used. The lower support had been previously hit and was no longer flat, so back to POS status of using random hardware I had and using 4 of the 5 holes…

I had the same issue with my car. I took my time lining up the skid plate to use rivnuts, then mangled the shit out of it with crappy drill bits. It looked like shit, but the skid plate bolts up nice and is plenty strong.

oh and before I forget Ireland Engineering had their open house and even though I wasn’t in attendance I was able to pick up a brand new Billet 272 cam and a front strut brace. Cam will be a someday-project while the strut bar is going in with the rest of the front suspension.

Goddamnnit! I was in LA that weekend and didn't think about checking for any local events! I would have run in the Manhattan Beach 10k, but it sold out like 3 days before I found out it lined up with my trip. I didn't have a ton of spare time, but I woulda tried to get to IE for an hour or two...

A bribe to a boatowner got me a nice care package, requisite a $2 biill that used to be worth $2. Was nice to get a few minor items crossed off the list.


Took the car up to Newcombs Ranch on Friday, but it was a much quieter GVBC.


I was alone with my tripod and an empty lot....



Noticed how bad the grille was as I had been neglecting painting it since masking is a b?tch... well, afterwards I had to... what a PITA
