What's the driving motivation for using RTV instead of a gasket on the rear main seal? Have you had good luck with RTV not leaking for a longer duration?89' Build

Rear main has the metal gasket, I'm running no oil pan gasket - just RTV. I've had good results with this in the past.Comment

Okay cool. I kept the engine in time and did have to rotate the Vanos to mesh so good to know.

Getting into the home stretch here... just waiting on funds to get the remaining items. Stewart water pump installed and my new flywheel from TTV racing came in, sourced at Euroconnex in Canada.
Cleaned up the AC compressor a bit and printed out a temporary block off plate until I get into that whole system.

Making progress I swear.. lost a lot of car budget to the dentist
Flywheel torqued and clutch setup installed. Sachs E34 M5 disc + E36 M3 pressure plate.
Thought I could reuse the coils from the S50.. but they just barely don't fit, so I bought a new set in the x52 style.
Not pictured but I mated up the ZF. Just about ready to drop it into the car, need to buy new motor mounts. Likely going to replace the revshift 80A trans mounts I have in the kswap with HD rubber E21 mounts to reduce NVH. Then the 80A set can go in this car.👍 1Comment
