Strict budget, slow restoration. *Now with moar budget*
Because it drives horribly, lol. Driveshaft is flopping around. Ordered a new giubo and CSB for it but I suspect I will need a reman'd driveshaft as well. When that is done and the rears ASTs are on, I'll take it to get an alignment and THEN come rave about it. Deal?
Old Konis seem to have no gas charge left. Some of them still do general dampy things though. They are rebuildable but likely not for lemons car prices.
Also, need to buy wheel bearings and repack with redline grease. Mine have a little play in them.
Video of driveshaft flopping around because of reasons? ;D
Actually the driveshaft is good now. Gave it a used DS with new CSB and giubo, no more flaccid floppy shaft. ;D

Ha! No point in taking this thing to nationals, it's nowhere near competitive in SM. I autox it but it's not built to any class.
Also my shocks are at elephant awaiting return shipping. Make sure you have adequate droop travel if you get ASTs. I had to lower it another inch after it topped out and they started making funny noises.

Werd. I'm in the same boat. Though i've never been to an scca solo event, i autox with the local porsch club and a lot of the scca guys run with them too. After seeing some of the cars that i'd be in SM with i realized my car won't be remotely competitive. I just try to have fun and close the gap between the top guys.

Dang that stinks. How much travel each way do AST's have when they're at ideal ride height? I'm currently having some ix bilstein inserts revalved and was planning to set it up to have 2.5" compression tavel and 2.5" droop travel at my ride height.
cam trays and lifters (didn't touch em just took a cool pic)
M50 cam right vs S50 cam left.. there is a noticeable difference in the shape of the lobe. Check out how pointy the M50 cam lobes are vs. the S50 which are a lot more rounded.
New chain tensioner
Vanos piston
Installing new vanos seal from Beisan Systems
Aaaaand... on
later/S50 style cam dowel vs. early style. I reused the early style... don't do this. Get a later model washer stack for the intake cam sprocket if you are doing this cam swap.
super official cam timing check... turns out this isn't even the right way to check it. I realized later that the "squares" on the back of the cams aren't perfectly square. What really matters is the right angle between the head surface and the upright surface on the square. Unfortunately the actual official factory cam timing blocks don't fit my car due to lack of space, so we had to do it this way.
S50 cams in.. new vc gasket.. good to go
Donezo
Lot more pep up high now. Tune is on the way as well as the updated intake sprocket washer stack ($100 for three washers... ugh)
Handful and a half right now, it has no alignment (It has a Wh33lhop "good enough" alignment) so it oversteers everywhere.
Besides that I have fixed a few things and changed the springs to 600/780 and have the ASTs on 8 clicks. Biting at the heels of a few slick-shod Evos at that autox.
