I've used both late and early model axles in both late and early model cars. I've seen no difference aside from an ABS ring. But even the early model ones have those most of the time.

    Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

There is no difference in early and late hubs, there's no difference in e and i axles. Feel free to keep telling me there is, but there is not. I've owned 25 of these things and worked on god knows how many.

you got damn lucky with your rear subframe... mine went nice and smooth too until one of the main bushings wouldn't let go. I ended up beating the living daylight out of it with a pneumatic chisel until there was nothing left for it to hold up on....

              Arent new C/V's ~6-700$ a side?

Any E30 CV works in any other E30... BUT if you have ABS you need one from an E30 WITH abs.. if you dont have ABS then it doesn't matter.

Also, dont reuse the bolts that hold the CV's to the diff, i learned that after my $90 towing bill...

Yeah, I don't reuse hardware for the driveline, learned that the hard way about 4-5 years ago. My brother in law and I decided to race off a light (just goofing around), and when I launched, I sheared 2 of 3 bolts holding my driveshaft to my output flange. The locknuts had backed off, and I completely smashed smooth the threads of the bolts.

Just curious, have an 85, so early early. Anyway, enough tarnishing this awesome build. I also think alfa/ferrari when I see the wrinkle red, I want to do the same one day as well.

+1. There should be 3 plates linking the coils together and I think 3 straps from the coils to a stud for the valve cover center thing. I've seen literal driving differences from having and not having those.

                      Don't paint them...

All 325e output shafts (w/abs) from 7/83 - 7/88 are pt#33-21-1-225-893 and use a M10x43mm bolt to attach the inner C.V. joint to the differential.

All 325i & M3 output shafts from 11/86 - 1/91 are part #33-21-1-226-901 and use M10x50mm bolts to attach the inner C.V. joint to the differential.

i and M3 axles(being the same) have a thicker C.V. joint and use longer bolts. I didn't find this photo on the web, I took it.

I only have 2 plates, and 2 ground straps. Am I missing something? And where to the grounds attach to at each end?

No worries. I have all three coil pack plates but only 1 ground strap.
                              Need a part? PM me.

Also, BMW seems to have superceeded the short bolts with the long ones... i could not get brand new short bolts, so i had to get the i CV's
