Welding the Vbands to the collectors

Headers just about done...just need to weld the collectors on. That might wait until they are back in the car so I can get the angle I want.


Merge Bullet on the drivers side

What is the significance of the merge bullet, eliminate the possibility of pressure entering a different port?

I would imagine for the back pressure and flow. Rather then all 4 hitting eachother and bouncing off eachother they flow in to eachother down the pipe.

Yeah it helps them all flow and merge together. Also it would be fairly impossible to weld on the inside where the 4 runners come together. You can also use a little cross looking thing but the merge bullet is better.

Long weekend away at tedfest vintage BMW show near Toronto. Back at the e36...hoping to have it running early next week. Getting very close!

Headers on the engine so I can get the collectors in just the right spot.

What did it cost you in materials to build a (amazing) set of headers like that? I know the skill and labor is the valuable part but just curious...

Materials were in the $500 range for stainless

What kind of muffler is the non-Magnaflow in your pic above?

looks like a Spintech. I am actually going to them to have a custom muffler made to calm down my exhaust because my old ears can't take the rumble lol
