Thanks for all the replies! Im stuck between the KA extra wide flares and the M3 body panels. -
Thanks for the reply man! Keep in mind this stuff is 'racecar quality'. If you're wanting something 'nice' for your street car I'd go OEM metal flares. Fiberglass will never look perfect IMO.
This kit is perfect for me though. It's super lightweight, easy to manipulate, and cheap.
1) Why did you opt not to do the c pillar (rear window)? This would complete the full M3 look. The Czech company that makes the kit sells it, correct?
Because I wasn't going for the M3 clone look. Both my quarter panels are trashed. I needed room for more tire. If my quarters were clean then I would have got some KA flares. Also, I don't think it's worth the time, money, and effort to swap c pillars. Yes you get some aero benefit, but is it worth it? Plus, it's not an M3. I don't want it to look like a total poser M.
2) Why did you change the tail light panel? Is it required for the wide body flares? Aesthetics? Are they different between M and non M?
It was rusty and damaged. I replaced it with the same exact part. Yes M is different P/N but not sure if it is a different piece. See post #42 for pics of damage/rust.
3) Why did you change the hood? Weight savings? Aesthetics? Is the hood different between M and non M?
Weight reduction. All hoods are the same, it's from the non-M page on their site.
4) how much did the kit cost in US dollars including shipping?
Little under $1000 for everything. Flares, skirts, bumpers, hood, and sunroof. Add ~115 euros for shipping.
5) How long did it take to receive the kit?
First order was 6 weeks. Second order was 3 weeks.
6) What made you decide on the Czech kit versus a local company like DTM Fiberworks?
Purchased from DTM all of it minus the sunroof is $2200 before shipping, DTM isn't local for me. Soooo, See #4.Leave a comment:

I'm interested in doing something similar but my car will be primarily a street car. I have a few questions you might be able to answer for me. 1) Why did you opt not to do the c pillar (rear window)? This would complete the full M3 look. Black Friday was all about this car..
My wheel decision has been made, ordered some APEX since I couldn't pass up their Black Friday deal.
Track setup:
17x9.5 et35 ARC-8
275/40-17 Toyo R888
15mm Motorsport Hardware spacers
Street setup:
17x8 et20 BBS RC090
245/40-17 Hankook RS3
15mm Motorsport Hardware spacers
I also grabbed some 82mm bullet nose studs and Black Titan Cold Forged Race Nuts from Motorsport Hardware.

haha thanks man! my original plan was to go MT1 with this car.Leave a comment:

the project was on a little hiatus while some stupid mis-communication with a parts company made me wait forever for something that I never received.
I have been busy since the last update though, I picked up a super clean (minus hail) 86 325e with b25 swap (thread).
This weekend I took the car off the rotisserie and got all suspension put on it, I'm just waiting for money for an e46 330i rack from rackdoctors.
While test fitting my junkyard BBS with 235/45 on them (same diameter as 275/35) I saw that they rubbed on the footwell area. So I grabbed my angle grinder and a cutoff wheel and started chopping it up until I got enough steering angle (idk what the max will be since I don't have a rack)

I then started to do last minute things on the rotisserie and then proceded to lower it onto jackstands (OMG the car hasn't been this low in sooo long!) lol I put the front struts on once it was stable, they made the car want to spin so bad when installing on the rotisserie.

Then my same EVO X buddy came over. Was a struggle to test fit up front because of different bolt pattern the wheel had to just sit there. I found out I needed to cut out more to clear the footwell area. I forgot to get a pic of fitment with the fender on :( but it was PERFECT, about 12-14mm on the inside.

He then took his wheels and tires back and I put the BBS off the E36 onto the car for some rollers since it's on DSII now for winter :(
The car looks so damn good even with these hellasunk wheels on 215s.

To do:
steering rack
install doors
remove fiberglass
trailer to IronFreak's for cage
primer/block fiberglass panels
maybe do some wrenching on the 86Last edited by unloadedak; 04-18-2014, 12:14 AM.Leave a comment:
