Hello, used my quarantine to catch some turbo m42 info again and found this.
Wow, is this a 7 year diary of fun too? :)
Very very nice.
You always ran a 3,73 diff?
What gearbox do you use? m40 m42? Had any failures? Also, how does the guibo last?
I wanted a turbo years ago, but bought a e30 touring with idea to used it for drift and ice riding, with a tired m20 stroker, now it will go out and hoping for the end of the year will have the m42 turbo. Just worrying about gearbox life on low and high boost (aiming for 170 180 hp and later for 230 250). Hoping to have more time and driving fun because now it was more repair than driving. Engines goes out for a crack in the front rail... The joy of old rusted cars.
Couldn't your detonation problems be cause by the flat 19 degree advance in the high row? I'm not an expert, absolutely, never mapped a turbo and every engine is different, but it seems a little bit high.
